I have a passion for a wide array of sectors within media. This spans film writing, directing, marketing, promotions, graphic design and much more. The opportunity to write and direct a short or feature film with a grant or arts funding would be my ultimate goal, however I understand that this dream will not provide a sustainable career.
I believe that the most viable role for me to incorporate all of my interests would be that of a videographer. This combines my love for working behind the camera and my interest in assisting the local community and businesses. This is a practical and feasible pathway towards employment.
The rise of social media has increased the demand for video content as a medium for promotional and informative purposes, by both organisations and corporate businesses. This is because a well produced video can drastically improve the public image of a group, as well as raise awareness of their purpose and reach their target audience. For example, on Facebook it is common for the first element that users see to be a short video. On Instagram, short-form video advertisements can display between stories and posts to jump out at users more than a traditional image. I already have a decent amount of experience to apply for these types of jobs, and could always work independently (for example shooting wedding and other personal events videos) since I have the equipment and software to do so if I had enough of a client base.

This job in particular fits my description well and particularly interests me. It combines a lot of my preexisting skills gained over the course of 6 years, and will help me hone other skills that I have the desire to improve. I have had experience with directing and shooting in a variety of settings, sound, editing, and photography throughout my media course and through my other external projects. I am comfortable using Premier and have a basic understanding of After Effects, I have gained confidence behind the camera and with leading video projects through my practical work in college, I have dealt with client facing situations through my volunteer work within the community and through working corporate events outside of college. I enjoy using my creativity throughout all fields of my work. I am also just about to sit the tests needed to gain a full UK driving license, which should make me more attractive to employers, along with my constantly expanding portfolio through work experience and freelance commissions.
